IGP Odho appreciated the performance of the officers and personnel who had been assigned the security duty. He directed that strict surveillance of the entrance and exit routes of the stadium, parking areas and surrounding areas should be ensured at all times.
He added that the modern surveillance system, surveillance cameras and searching process should be made more effective, Quick Response Force and traffic management arrangements should be kept active and alert at all levels at all times, and coordination among all institutions was essential for the peaceful conduct of major events.
Later, IGP Odho met Community Policing Karachi (CPK) head Murad Sohni along with a delegation. The meeting held at the Central Police Office Karachi was also attended by CPK Hyderabad Head, Deputy Chief CPK and other dignitaries.
During the meeting, the overall law and order situation in Karachi and Hyderabad, crime prevention, police performance and issues related to the promotion of community-based policing were discussed.
Odho said the community policing plays a very important role in establishing effective and sustainable peace, and it is not possible to achieve the goals of eliminating crime without public participation.
The use of modern technology, especially the installation of CCTV cameras and command and control systems, is proving to be helpful in further improving the quality of policing. CPK chief Murad Sohni gave a briefing to the IGP on the progress made in the installation of high-tech cameras and the establishment of a command and control center in Hyderabad.
The installation of high-tech CCTV cameras and the formal launch of the command and control center in Hyderabad will be completed by the end of this month under the supervision of CPK chief Zubair Ghangra. The IGP termed this initiative as a significant step towards protecting citizens and eradicating crime and stressed the need to expand such innovative projects to other cities.
