HYDERABAD: In line with the government’s austerity campaign amid the ongoing US-Iran tensions, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Zain-ul-Abedin Memon at the New DC Complex on Monday to ensure strict implementation of energy-saving measures in the district.
The meeting was attended by SSP Hyderabad Shajeeb Chachar, assistant commissioners of all talukas, and other police officials. The deputy commissioner emphasized the need for strong coordination among relevant departments to effectively implement the government’s austerity policy. He stated that given the current situation, energy conservation measures must be ensured in Hyderabad, as across the country.
SSP Shajeeb Chachar vowed full cooperation, adding that the SHOs in their respective areas were taking steps to ensure compliance. Later, the deputy commissioner held a separate meeting with representatives and leaders of various trader associations in Hyderabad. He urged them to fully cooperate and ensure that shops, hotels, wedding halls, and banquet facilities adhere to the prescribed closing timings.
According to the policy, all markets and shopping malls in Hyderabad will close by 9pm, while hotels, restaurants, and food outlets will operate from 7pm to 11:30pm. However, home delivery and takeaway services will remain allowed. Wedding halls and banquet facilities will operate from 8pm to midnight.
Meanwhile, essential services including tandoors, milk and dairy shops, bakeries, medical stores, pharmacies, laboratories, clinics, hospitals, and petrol pumps will remain exempt from these restrictions. Representatives of traderd associations recorded their reservations over implementing the austerity policy.
