LAHORE:Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat visited matric examination centres in Kahna, Walton, and Model Town on Monday to review ongoing exam arrangements.
During inspections, he expressed displeasure over poor lighting and cleanliness at Kahna centre and directed the board administration to immediately improve facilities. At Model Town, students complained about uncomfortable seating, prompting the minister to order replacement of chairs the same day. He also instructed that all centres must provide clean drinking water and basic amenities.
Rana Sikandar said the government’s commitment to transparent examinations was being fulfilled, noting that UMC cases had dropped by 80 percent this year, with only three cases reported in hard areas. He added that strict monitoring systems, including biometric attendance, QR code scanning, and online surveillance through cameras, were in place.
The minister revealed that monitoring teams in southern Punjab recovered cheating material in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan, while messages exchanged between invigilators and candidates were also intercepted. Immediate action was taken against those involved. He stressed that impersonation and cheating would not be tolerated, and transparency in exams would be ensured across Punjab.
