Social media is now a significant source of distraction. Social media has taken the place of studying and sleep, as many students spend hours scrolling through social media. Such habits diminish concentration, encourage procrastination and cause unwarranted comparison and anxiety. Students are already finding it difficult to be disciplined after the transition back to physical classes, even though the online class period was relatively brief.
This transition is becoming even more challenging with the continued excessive use of social media. Schools and parents should be involved in ensuring that the students are directed towards responsible technology use. Students can be made aware about the long-term effects through awareness
campaigns and digital well-being sessions.
