Private schools in Kech, Balochistan already charge exorbitant fees for tuition, enrolment and other expenses. If the tuition fees are not paid by the deadline, additional late fines are imposed. Parents, particularly those from middle and lower-middle-class families, are deeply concerned about this practice. Due to inflation and rising living expenses, many families are struggling to meet their daily needs in the current economic situation. Parents, who are already making great efforts to provide quality education for their children, face further financial pressure when schools impose extra late fees. Sometimes, parents are unable to pay on time due to genuine reasons such as unexpected family expenses, banking issues or delays in receiving salaries. Instead of penalising parents in such situations, schools should show understanding and flexibility.
Education is a fundamental right of every child and families should not be burdened unfairly because of it. While private schools play an important role in providing education, they must also act responsibly and consider the financial conditions of parents. I respectfully request the relevant authorities to investigate this issue by consulting parents and students.
