Islamabad:A team of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) visited Mekran Medical College Teaching Hospital, Turbat, for the purpose of accreditation and evaluation of postgraduate training facilities.
The CPSP has termed the visit an important step towards the development and recognition of postgraduate medical training at Mekran Medical College (MMC) Teaching Hospital. The CPSP delegation was led by the President of CPSP, Professor Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, along with Vice President CPSP Professor Muhammad Shoaib Shafi, Director Medical Education Professor Dr. Amir Zaman Khan, Regional Director CPSP Balochistan Chapter, and focal person for the Prime Minister’s Polio Eradication Program and renowned gynaecologist Professor Dr. Aisha Saddique. Other respected members of the team included Professor Dr. Aslam Chaudhary and Professor Dr. Jahangir Khan.
The CPSP team was warmly welcomed by the Principal of Mekran Medical College, Professor Dr. Afzal Khaliq, Medical Superintendent Teaching Hospital Dr. Wahid Buledi, and faculty members of Mekran Medical College. During the visit, the CPSP team visited various departments and sections of the teaching hospital to review the available facilities, infrastructure, and academic activities. The team also inaugurated the CPSP Regional Centre established within the hospital premises.
The visit was supervised by Secretary Health Balochistan, Mr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, along with Deputy Commissioner Kech, Mr. Yasir Dashti, and District Health Officer Kech, Dr. Abdul Rauf Rind. The Head of Paediatrics and Associate Professor, Dr. Misbah Munir, briefed the CPSP team on the various departments, hospital sections, available facilities, and the academic and clinical services being provided at the teaching hospital.
The CPSP team expressed satisfaction with the available resources, infrastructure, clinical services, and academic activities of Mekran Medical College Teaching Hospital. The team announced that CPSP will arrange a convocation at the newly established regional centre and will consider MMC Teaching Hospital for CPSP postgraduate training programs, including FCPS and MCPS training in various departments of the hospital in the near future.
At the end of the visit, Principal Professor Dr. Afzal Khaliq thanked the CPSP team for visiting MMC Teaching Hospital and appreciated their support, guidance, and efforts for the promotion and development of medical education and training in the region.
