‘Balanced diet vital to prevent diseases’

LAHORE:Principal of Post Graduate Medical Institute Prof Dr Muhammad Farooq Afzal has stated that healthy citizens are the foundation of a strong nation.

Addressing a ceremony at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) held in connection with World Health Day aligned with this year’s theme, ‘Together for health, stand with science’he stated that modern research, vaccination and evidence-based medicine have made timely diagnosis and effective treatment possible, introducing new dimensions to the medical field and reducing mortality rates. He added that while unbalanced diets and sedentary lifestyles are increasing the prevalence of diseases, adopting healthy habits has become indispensable. He remarked that PGMI/AMC and LGH are strengthening the healthcare sector through state-of-the-art facilities, research and training. Speaking to the media, Prof Farooq Afzal added that under the CM’s vision, health reforms are being implemented to ensure every citizen receives quality and free medical facilities. On this occasion, Prof Khurram Saleem, Prof Dr Faryad Hussain, Prof Amna Hassan Cheema and Prof Nazish Saqlain also shared their views, stating that all available resources would be used to provide quality healthcare based on modern scientific requirements.
