LAHORE:Slow internet speed has affected the CM’s plan of providing fast services to the general public through digitalisation in Lahore Development Authority (LDA).
Several senior officers of LDA have told the scribe that the authority’s slow internet system has become an obstacle to governance. They said despite the implementation of the e-Biz system by Chief Secretary Punjab, citizens could not get the desired results.
Slow running of the digital system has become the norm due to which both LDA officers and users were facing difficulties. A senior officer of Town Planning wing alleged that despite repeated complaints, the LDA’s IT department failed to improve the internet service. Administrative affairs were badly affected due to slow internet service and frequent shutdowns. When contacted, LDA’s Director IT Basit Ali declared that LDA officers were aggregating the issue. He said if LDA internet was slow then it could first affect the e-biz system and other online services of the authority, which were running as per routine. He added that LDA was also running intranet services, which connected LDA officers with internal systems and it was going smoothly.
Meanwhile, the LDA Town Planning Wing was active against illegal commercial buildings and commercial fee defaulters and sealed 233 properties. LDA teams operated in Defence Road, Revenue Society, Wapda Town, Gulberg, New Garden Town, GT Road, Muslim Town, Samanabad and Sabzazar.
