I am writing to draw attention to the worrying rise in street crimes. This situation is deeply concerning and needs urgent action. There should be a noticeable increase in police patrolling, particularly in areas where such crimes happen frequently. At the same time, installing CCTV cameras in public places can help monitor suspicious activities and make it easier to catch offenders. Another important issue is poor infrastructure. Many streets are badly lit, giving criminals the perfect opportunity to act without being seen. Improving street lighting is a simple but highly effective step. Communities should also play their part. Neighbourhood watch programmes can help residents stay alert and report anything unusual, while emergency helpline services should be made more responsive so citizens can quickly report incidents and get help.
We also need to look at the bigger picture. Problems like unemployment and lack of opportunities often lead people towards crime. The government should focus on creating jobs, providing vocational training and engaging young people in positive activities. Finally, laws must be enforced properly and without delay. Quick and fair action sends a strong message that crime will not be tolerated, while delays weaken public trust.
