LAHORE : Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that business activities are indispensable for the development of the economy. 

Business activities can be accelerated by providing a conducive environment to traders. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto made the defence of country invincible by laying the foundation of the nuclear programme.

He expressed these views while meeting a delegation of All Pakistan Small Traders and Cottage Industry at the Governor’s House on Saturday.

A large number of people from business community including Group Leader Anjum Nisar, Faheem-ur-Rehman Sehgal, President Lahore Chamber Ashraf Nizami were present on the occasion.

Governor Punjab said that Small Industries and Cottage Industry are the backbone of the economy. He appreciated the business community for continuing business activities in the country despite all the difficulties. He said that the government should take the representatives of the business community into confidence while making economic policies. The governor stated that the business community’s efforts have not only improved the economy but also generated employment opportunities. He said that Pakistan can capitalize on the current scenario to become an economic power by attracting foreign investment through a business-friendly environment.

He said that being an ally of the government, PPP is determined to bring about improvement in the country. He further said that the problems faced by the businessmen should be resolved on priority basis. He assured the business community to convey their problems to the Punjab government.

Punjab Governor paid tribute to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on his death anniversary and said that Shaheed Bhutto made the defence of Pakistan invincible by laying the foundation for a nuclear programme in the country. He mentioned that Shaheed Bhutto had stated that Pakistan would go to great lengths, to develop an atomic bomb for national security.

The governor added that it’s because of Shaheed Bhutto’s efforts that Pakistan has achieved significant progress and can now hold its head high. He said that when India imposed a war against Pakistan, it had to lick the dust. He added that the credit for this goes to the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, Field Marshal Asim Munir and the chiefs of the navy, land and air forces. He said that Pakistan wants peace and security in the region.

He said that Pakistan is making every effort to reduce the ongoing war tension between the parties and bring it to the negotiating table. On this occasion, Fateha was also offered for the eternal peace and high ranks of Shaheed Bhutto on his death anniversary.

Meanwhile Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan visited the head office of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, where he was received by Alkhidmat President Dr Hafeez ur Rehman, Secretary General Syed Waqas Jafri, and other officials.
