Islamabad: The long routes transporters have increased fares by Rs200 to Rs300 per ticket while goods transporters increased fare by 60 per cent after the latest surge in POL prices. The local transporters without any permission have also increased fare stop-to-stop by Rs50 to Rs70 here on Friday.
The residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, transporters and business sectors have strongly condemned the fresh jump in petroleum prices, describing it as ‘the height of injustice’ for ordinary citizens, with petrol now priced at Rs458 per litre and diesel at Rs520 per litre.
On the other hand, Petroleum Dealers Association (PDA) said that petrol and diesel sale reduced by 50 per cent in petrol pumps after massive increase in prices. Reacting to hike in POL prices, people belonged to all walks of life termed the increase an extreme injustice and said it would disproportionately affect lower- and middle-income households.
