Turkiye constitutional court chief to visit Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The President of the Constitutional Court of Türkiye is set to pay an important visit to Pakistan next week, with key developments expected in strengthening judicial cooperation between the superior courts of the two countries.

According to a statement issued by the Registrar’s Office of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Turkish delegation will sign a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation during its visit to the Supreme Court.

On the occasion, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, will host a luncheon in honour of the visiting dignitary on April 6.

Separately, Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, will also host a luncheon on April 7 for the Turkish counterpart, where discussions are expected on bilateral judicial relations and exchange of experiences.

During the visit, the President of the Constitutional Court of Türkiye will also visit the Federal Constitutional Court, where he will be briefed on its procedures and constitutional jurisdiction.

The visit is being seen as an important step towards enhancing judicial cooperation and strengthening institutional ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.
