A young woman was killed while her father was injured after a water tanker hit their motorcycle near Bilal Chowrangi in the Sharafi Goth area of Korangi. Meanwhile, two more people lost their lives in separate road accidents. According to police, the man and daughter hit by the water tanker were rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center with the help of an ambulance. However, 20-year-old Saima succumbed to her injuries on the way. Her father, Gul was currently under treatment.
SHO Imtiaz Niazi said the water tanker driver was arrested on the spot with the help of local residents, and both the tanker and the victims’ motorcycle were taken into custody. Police said Gul was travelling on a motorcycle with his two daughters to visit his son’s house in Korangi when the accident occurred. One of the daughters miraculously remained unharmed.
The deceased girl was a resident of the Aziz Bhatti Park area in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Police stated that Gul was the father of nine children, and the deceased was his sixth child. Separately, two more people were killed and 11 others, including minors, were injured in separate traffic accidents in different parts of the city.
A collision between a Suzuki pickup and trailer on the Northern Bypass within the limits of the Mochko police station left one person dead and nine others injured. The injured persons were taken to the Civil Hospital, Karachi, for medical treatment.
The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Sardar, son of Sher Zaman. The injured included Abdul Rehman, Habibullah, Fareedullah, Imdadullah, Salmanullah, Mujeebur Rehman, Zaid Din, Jameelullah and Shafiq.
Mochko SHO Faisal Latif said the deceased was reportedly the driver of the Suzuki pickup. The trailer driver managed to escape the scene. The police impounded both the vehicles and launched a search for the absconding driver.
In another incident near Natha Khan Total Pump on Sharea Faisal, a collision between two motorcycles resulted in the death of one person and injuries to two minor boys. The victims were rushed to Jinnah postgraduate medical center. The deceased was identified as 40-year-old Lawrence Iqbal, son of Iqbal Yousuf, while the injured minors could not be identified immediately. The airport police said they had initiated investigations into the incident.
