Suspect in child abduction case killed in police encounter

BUREWALA: A prime suspect in the abduction of a three-year-old girl was killed in an encounter with the police here.

According to a police spokesperson, teams from Model Town and Sadr police stations had set up a checkpoint near a

railway crossing to apprehend suspects linked to the kidnapping of three-year-old Zoha Fatima, who was abducted on Chand Raat from Habib Colony.

Upon spotting the police, three armed suspects opened fire, prompting the officers to retaliate in self-defence.

During the exchange of fire, one suspect was accidentally hit by bullets fired by his accomplices.

The deceased was identified as Muhammad Naveed, alias Nomi or Ghazi Khan, son of Nazir Ahmed and a resident of Karachi. Police records show he was wanted in multiple cases, including abduction, sexual assault, murder, and attempted murder, across Karachi, Multan, Rahimyar Khan and other cities.

The operation was led by SHO Model Town Mehr Qaiser Manzoor and SHO Sadr Burewala Mehr Muhammad Abbas.

A 30-bore pistol was recovered from the suspect and taken into custody as evidence.

Naveed was the main suspect in the kidnapping of Zoha Fatima, who was safely recovered on Eidul Fitr.

The police also arrested a woman, Saima Bibi, who allegedly purchased the child.

She has been remanded to judicial custody along with the vehicle used in the crime.

SDPO Circle Burewala Rana Muhammad Imran Tippu supervised the operation and directed

that the body be shifted to the hospital for postmortem.

The police have intensified search operations to apprehend the remaining suspects.

District Police Officer Tassawar Iqbal stated that officers acted within the law to protect themselves and the public, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest other individuals involved in the case.

DRIVER DIES IN ACCIDENT: A rickshaw driver lost his life after his motorcycle-rickshaw collided with a trailer on Luddan Road on Tuesday.

According to reports, Aqib Karim, a resident of Luddan, lost control of his rickshaw, which then crashed into the trailer.

As a result, he sustained critical injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital where he died. The police have launched investigation.
