LAHORE:Following an increase in dog-bite incidents in the provincial capital, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz has activated dog catching squad of Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL).

Recently, an eight years old girl died due to dog bite in Lahore, which created a strong debate on the role of the MCL on media and social media.The activated squad was working under theMetropolitan Officer Regulation(MOR) Kashif Jalil, who started uninterrupted field operations in different tehsils. The team conducted continuous successful operations to protect the citizens even during Eid holidays.

The district administration said that more than 150 stray dogs were caught during the operations while an attack was made on the squad teams in which an official was injured and received eight stitches.

On the other hand, the deputy commissioner has directed that the field campaign against stray dogs should be intensified in all tehsils and public complaints should be redressed immediately, especially immediate action should be taken on complaints received through the helpline and social media.In addition, the district administration has appealed that citizens can call the helpline 112233-0800 or contact the municipality's social media pages to complain about stray dogs.
