Thousands of doctors, nurses being recruited thru PPSC: Salman

LAHORE : Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the recruitment of thousands of new doctors and nurses on 100 percent merit is being implemented through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). After the approval of the provincial cabinet, the doctors will also be recruited on ad hoc basis in various hospitals.

He shared this information while addressing a meeting regarding the chief minister’s health initiatives at the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company (PHIMC) on Saturday. Additional Secretary Development Department Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Ameera Baidar, CEO Punjab Health Initiative Management Company Dr Ali Razaq attended the meeting.

Khawaja Salman was briefed during the meeting about the monitoring framework of various health projects, service delivery and steps taken for the convenience of patients. During the meeting, public feedback regarding new and unique health projects was also reviewed. Khawaja Salman stressed the importance of ensuring transparency in flagship programmes, improving the quality of service and ensuring the best monitoring for the convenience of patients.

Provincial Health Minister said that millions of patients have benefited in specialised hospitals of Punjab, surgeries have been performed, while free medicines worth billions of rupees have been distributed. Free medicines worth billions of rupees have been provided in specialised hospitals. Progress is underway on the CM Special Initiative for Cancer Patient Card in Punjab. Progress is also underway on special Programmes for cancer and additional cardiac surgery. Under the CM Children's Heart Surgery Programme, more than 11,200 innocent children have been done completely free of charge across the province at a cost of billions of rupees.

Under the CM Children’s Heart Surgery Programme, 450 children from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 262 from Azad Kashmir, 110 from Islamabad, 29 from Balochistan, 40 from Gilgit-Baltistan and 27 from Sindh have so far undergone free cardiac surgeries.
