LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore has arrested a deputy secretary of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) in a Rs170 million corruption case.

Muhammad Akram, a Deputy Secretary of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), in a major Rs170 million corruption case.According to FIA officials, Muhammad Akram allegedly received Rs170 million from a citizen to facilitate the lease of 200 ETPB-owned plots in DHA Phase-VI through an auction. He is also accused of acquiring a 751-square-yard plot in Lahore Cantt, a residential house on Tufail Road, a luxury car, and additional cash payments as part of the bribe.

The FIA said fraudulent documents, including fake sale agreements and third-party transactions, were allegedly used to conceal the corruption. The inquiry reportedly found sufficient evidence of bribery, misuse of authority, possession of assets beyond known income, and contradictions in the suspect’s statements.

A case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947, and relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. Investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of other ETPB officials and private individuals.
