ISLAMABAD: The matter of promotion of 266 Grade-18 officers belonging to Pakistan Administrative Service, Police Service of Pakistan and Office Management Group has become stalled.

The officers, facing disappointment and anxiety, have appealed to Secretary of Establishment Division to issue the notifications immediately.

Last month, Departmental Promotion Board approved regular promotions and acting charge promotions to Grade-19 for 266 civil and police service officers. The meeting of Departmental Selection Board, chaired by Secretary Establishment Division Nabeel Awan, was held on February 13 and 14 last month. On February 18, details of promotions were issued in writing in the form of a communiqué.

After promotions, posting plans had also been prepared, but even after a month the Establishment Division has still not issued formal notifications for promotions and new postings. This unusual delay has created restlessness and concern among the promoted officers, especially since the board meeting for their promotions had already been held after an unusually long delay.

Due to the absence of official notifications for their promotions and subsequent postings or transfers, these officers are still performing their duties at their pre-promotion positions.

According to sources, even after promotions were approved, work on intelligence reports of these officers is still ongoing.
