Information warfare is now a hidden but powerful danger to states across the globe during the digital age. Being a student of history, I think one of the best long-term solutions to such a problem is to increase the awareness of history among young people. For example, by taking a specialised academic course that would interconnect historical knowledge with modern media literacy, students may be taught to evaluate sources critically, analyse the present day, historically, and differentiate between sensational presentation and well-informed analysis.
When young people have knowledge of contexts, they can generate their own ideas and not merely trust in mainstream discourse. A civilisation that understands its past can understand its present and preserve the future.
