ABBOTTABAD: A state-of-the-art Traffic Command and Control Room was inaugurated here on Wednesday.Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for Hazara Range, Nasir Mehmood Satti, inaugurated the new facility. It is equipped with advanced surveillance technology and designed to enhance traffic management and emergency response across the city.
The Command and Control Room will serve as a central hub for monitoring the city’s traffic network.Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Muhammad Ishtiaq Khan briefed the DIG on the system’s capabilities, explaining that high-resolution CCTV cameras have been installed at key intersections and thoroughfares.
This allows for 24/7 surveillance, enabling authorities to ensure smooth traffic flow, swiftly identify congestion, and coordinate rapid responses to accidents or emergencies.The DIG termed the initiative a cornerstone of the city’s development. “The establishment of this modern Traffic Command and Control Room is a landmark step toward facilitating our citizens and strengthening our urban infrastructure,” he said.
He expressed hope that real-time surveillance would help in the timely identification of suspicious activities, while smarter traffic management would alleviate congestion and reduce the risk of road accidents.
Later, the DIG visited the Police Driving School to inaugurate a new, fully equipped driving simulator.The simulator is expected to provide a safe, controlled environment for learners to experience realistic driving conditions and practice their skills.
The SSP Traffic briefed the DIG on the services offered at the school, which include road safety awareness programmes and practical training on traffic laws.The DIG inspected various sections of the facility and directed officials to continuously update the training modules to meet modern driving requirements.
