DIR: An eight-year-old girl was killed, and six others were injured when a car plunged into a gorge near Chukhyatan area here on Tuesday, police and rescue officials said.
They said the car was on its way from Barawal to Sheringal when the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn and fell into the gorge, leaving the girl dead and six others injured. On receiving the information, Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot and pulled out the victims.
Dir police said that 8-year-old Suhana, daughter of Hazrat Gul, died on the spot, while six others, including the driver, sustained injuries in the accident.The injured, identified as Siraj, Ataullah, Samiullah, sons of Hazrat Gul, Kosar, wife of Samiullah, and Rehan so of Rahmat, a resident of Bajaur, were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital Dir.
Meanwhile, the Dir police arrested an alleged car-lifter and a snatcher in separate actions in Wari and Shahibabad area in the Upper Dir district. It was learnt that a double-cabin pick-up was lifted from a garage in Sahibabad on the night of April 23.
The police arrested the suspect, identified as Wazirzada, and recovered the vehicle. Also, the police arrested a suspect on the charges of snatching cash from a salesman at a filling station in Wari. The suspect, identified as Khurshid Ali, was arrested, and a pistol, four magazines, and 38 rounds were recovered from his possession.
