MANSEHRA: Federal Minister for Hajj and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Mohammad Yousuf on Sunday assured an impartial inquiry into the killing of a youngster in the Havelian area on the Hazara Motorway last week.

“Nobody is above the law. An impartial and fact-based inquiry into the murder of a local youngster allegedly killed at the motorway would soon be completed, and those responsible might be taken to justice,” he told the bereaved family of Umar Khan, who was allegedly killed by motorway police personnel.

Sardar Yousuf went to the house of Umar Khan in the Kotli Pain area here and offered fateha for the departed soul.

The federal minister said that he had already taken up the issue with the inspector general (IG) of Motorway Police and directed him to ensure early completion of the inquiry against the personnel who allegedly fired and killed Umar Khan.

“IG has assured me of early completion of the inquiry initiated against motorway police personnel, and those responsible might be taken to justice under strict relevant laws,” Sardar Yousuf said.

The federal minister assured the bereaved family that the government would pursue their case at any forum and dispense justice.

The locals rushed the injured to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The body was handed over to the family after doctors completed the medicolegal formalities.
