PESHAWAR: Accountability Court on Saturday handed over the owner of a private construction company to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on a seven-day physical remand in connection with the Upper Kohistan mega financial scandal.
The accused, Sher Ali, who was arrested by NAB, was produced before the accountability court. Special Public Prosecutor NAB Habibullah Baig and the investigation officer also appeared during the hearing.
Accountability Judge Hamid Mughal approved a seven-day physical remand of the accused to facilitate further investigation.
During the proceedings, the NAB prosecutor informed the court that Sher Ali was allegedly involved in the Kohistan scandal. He pleaded that the accused owned a private construction company and that transactions amounting to Rs46 million had been made through his account.
The prosecutor argued that NAB was conducting an investigation into the Upper Kohistan financial scandal and that custodial interrogation of the accused was necessary. Accepting the request, the court remanded the accused to NAB custody for seven days.
