Health dept team visits village to probe death of five kids

SUKKUR: The Sindh Health Department has taken notice of the incident of five children, including three brothers, dying due to consumption of poisonous water in Menho Khan Chhijjan village of Mirpur Mathelo in Ghotki.

A Health Department team reached the affected village and visited the incident site. During the visit, members of the team said the children had drunk water from an empty bottle of poisonous medicine used in killing insects, after which their condition had deteriorated. Two children died on the way to Sukkur Hospital two days ago, one child died the previous day, and two children died on Thursday.

The ages of the deceased children are said to be between 7 and 9 years, and they were identified as Ayaz, his brother Allauddin, Muhammad Khan, Waqar and Wsaeem Chijjan. All the deceased children were residents of the same village and close relatives.

According to relatives, the children were playing on in the ground, where they poured water into an empty bottle of poison to kill insects, after which their condition began to deteriorate
