LAHORE:An alleged police encounter by CCD Kotwali resulted in the death of a suspect identified as Mubashir alias Mubashri, who was wanted by police in cases of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping for ransom and robbery.
According to sources, three CCD personnel were also injured in the encounter. The spokesperson said the CCD team signaled three motorcyclists to stop at a checkpoint, but they allegedly opened fire instead. DSP CCD vehicles were hit by bullets, and Mubashir alias Mubashri was killed during the exchange of fire.
Seven gamblers arrested
Nawab Town L-Block police post conducted a crackdown and arrested seven gamblers. According to the spokesperson, acting on a tip-off, police arrested Shahid, Naveed Aslam, Kamran, Imran, Khurram Shehzad, Iftikhar Hussain and Tanveer Abbas while they were allegedly gambling on cards. Police recovered more than Rs102,000 in cash, mobile phones, playing cards and a record diary from their possession. A case was registered and the suspects were handed over to the investigation wing.
Meanwhile, Mozang Police arrested a suspect for publicly displaying weapons. According to the spokesperson, the accused Mohsin was arrested near Mozang Adda, a pistol and bullets were recovered from his possession. A case was registered.
Three robbery suspects held
Dolphin Squad arrested three suspects allegedly involved in numerous crimes during snap checking and patrolling at hotspots.
According to the spokesperson, the arrests were made from Sabzazar, Nawan Kot, and South Cantt. Police record shows the suspects were allegedly ringleaders of robbery gangs and were wanted by different police stations. The arrested suspects—Badr, Nadeem and Umar Dinhave been handed over to the respective police stations.
Citizens deprived of valuables
Citizens were deprived of cash, gold jewellery, mobile phones, motorcycles and cars in multiple incidents of theft and robbery across the city.
According to details, in North Cantt, Ammar was robbed of Rs370,000 and a mobile phone; in Nawan Kot, Mumtaz lost Rs365,000 and a phone; in Nawab Town, Ali Raza was deprived of Rs340,000 and a phone; in Bhati Gate, Akram lost Rs325,000 and a phone; and in Hanjarwal, Ahsan was robbed of Rs315,000 and other items. Cars were stolen from Model Town and Shahdara.
