QUETTA: Balochistan police have arrested 173 suspects during province-wide operations and recovered 12 stolen vehicles, 42 motorcycles, along with weapons, mobile phones, and other items.
Acting on special directives of Inspector General Muhammad Tahir, police conducted targeted operations across Balochistan against criminals, drug dealers, proclaimed offenders, and absconders involved in serious crimes including robbery, theft, and snatching.
During these operations, police seized 153 pistols and revolvers, 20 Kalashnikovs, 10 shotguns, 1,397 rounds of ammunition, 119 magazines, 33.03 kilograms of explosives, one suicide jacket, and 59 hand grenades. Authorities also recovered 17 mobile phones, cash amounting to Rs 632,500, and 35 tolas of gold, while removing black-tinted windows from 2,782 vehicles.
In separate actions against narcotics traffickers, 230 suspects were taken into custody, and large quantities of drugs were confiscated, including 2,845.24 kg of hashish, 2,443.756 grams of crystal meth (ice), 114 grams of heroin, 15.740 kg of opium, 60 grams of morphine, 1.245 kg of crystal substances, along with 1,132 liquor bottles and 564 beer cans. Police also arrested 472 proclaimed offenders and absconders, detained 673 individuals in various criminal cases, and successfully rescued nine kidnapped persons.
Officials said targeted operations are ongoing in Quetta and seven other ranges to curb crime and ensure public safety. The police reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property by continuing crackdowns on criminal networks across the province.
Authorities further stated that special measures have been introduced to prevent wanted criminals from moving between districts. Background verification of arrested suspects is being carried out at police stations across the province, while coordination is also underway with law enforcement agencies in other provinces to check records of cases registered elsewhere.
