KARACHI: Director General (DG) of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Khurram Ali, has said the technical officers of the Pakistan Army, who are experts in cyber affairs, have been asked to provide their services to the NCCIA.
Initially, the posting will be in six major circles of the country. Officers are of the rank of Major or Colonel. In a letter to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Director General wrote that the ability of the technical officers (Signal Branch) of the Pakistan Army in terms of cyber tech is commendable and their deployment will greatly improve the institution and will also help a lot in terms of cyber security.
In the first phase, the top two technical officers are required for posting at Islamabad headquarters, Karachi and Lahore, and one each at Peshawar and Quetta.
It is further written that initially they will be appointed for a period of two years, but this period can be extended. According to the rules, the salaries and perks of the officers will be payable by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.
