ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Türkiye have signed new agreements to deepen cooperation in agriculture and livestock, as the government’s powerful investment body moved to accelerate technology transfer and modern farming under a broader push to attract foreign capital into key economic sectors.

The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) facilitated two memoranda of understanding between Türkiye’s Agricultural Technologies Cluster (TÜME) and Pakistan’s Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and the Green Corporate Livestock Initiative (GCLI), aiming to modernize Pakistan’s agriculture and livestock sectors through advanced technologies and corporate farming models.

The agreement between TÜME and PARC sets up a framework for collaboration in agricultural research, innovation and technology transfer, including advanced livestock breeding, precision and smart agriculture, climate-resilient farming, food processing and value addition, along with technical training and capacity building.

A separate MoU between TÜME and GCLI focuses on developing modern corporate livestock farming in Pakistan, promoting sustainable production systems and building export-oriented value chains to boost productivity and global competitiveness in the livestock sector.

The agreements were signed in the presence of senior Pakistani officials and the Turkish ambassador, reflecting SIFC’s growing role as a one-window platform for foreign investors and cross-border partnerships.

Officials said the collaboration aligns with Pakistan’s strategy to shift from traditional farming toward technology-driven, private-sector-led agriculture, while strengthening economic ties with Türkiye in sectors seen as critical for food security, exports and long-term growth.
