LAHORE:Punjab University’s College of Art & Design (CAD) organised a colourful ‘Basant Festival’ here on Friday.
On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab Secretary Ghulam Farid, Principal CAD Dr Samina Naseem, faculty members, and students were present.
During the vibrant cultural celebration, traditional dances were performed to the beat of the dhol, while students also arranged an art exhibition based on the theme of Basant.
The exhibition highlighted the social and cultural significance of Basant, and students beautifully decorated the college corridors and rooftop with their creative artwork. They prepared kites in various styles and decorated the interior and exterior of the college building with colourful kites, which remained a centre of attraction for the participants.
The festival showcased a beautiful blend of art, culture, and tradition, presented magnificently through the creative talents of the students. While addressing the gathering, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had made the impossible possible by making the decision of celebrating Basant in a peaceful manner.
He said that Maryam Nawaz is a new ray of hope and a bright future for the youth, adding that she has connected the young people of Punjab with herself. Guests participating in the Basant Festival also flew kites.
