Multi-party protest in Balochistan called off

QUETTA: An All Parties representative delegation held talks with a government committee, during which —keeping in view the prevailing situation in Balochistan — the parties announced the withdrawal of protests across the province as a goodwill gesture.

In response, the Balochistan government decided to release all arrested employees. The All Parties delegation comprised representatives from the Awami National Party (ANP), National Party, Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkNAP), and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Key participants included ANP provincial president Asghar Khan Achakzai, National Party Central Vice President Dr Ishaq Baloch, PkNAP Provincial President Nasrullah Khan Zairey, PTI’s Salam Agha, HDP leader Ismat Yari, ANP leader Sanaullah Kakar, National Party’s Mir Inayat Buzdar, employees’ representative Ismail Kasi, and NDM’s Inayat Shah.

The government side was represented by members of the authorised committee, including Provincial Minister for Finance and Minerals Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Durrani, Provincial Minister Ali Madad Jattak, PPP leader Syed Iqbal Shah, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Imran Zarkoon, and Special Secretary Finance Arif Khan Achakzai.

During the meeting, the All Parties delegation announced an end to protests in light of the current situation in the province, while the government agreed to release detained employees. It was also decided that a follow-up meeting between senior All Parties leaders and the government committee will be held on February 12 to formulate a strategy for resolving all pending issues.
