ISLAMABAD: Senate Opposition Leader and head of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Sunday strongly condemned what he described as police brutality and a violation of the sanctity of privacy during a raid at the residence of senior politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi in Punjab.

In a statement shared on social media, he alleged that the action was carried out by what he termed a “fascist group of Form 47 and their handlers” under the patronage of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) government. He said the incident was not merely an attack on an individual or family but a direct assault on the Constitution, the rule of law, and democratic values.

The opposition leader said that storming the house of an elderly, ailing, and respected political figure reflected moral, political, and constitutional bankruptcy on the part of the ruling authorities. “Such actions are not a sign of strength but of fear, panic, and moral defeat,” he asserted.

Citing Hazrat Ali (RA), Allama Nasir said a government may survive with disbelief, but it cannot survive with oppression, adding that when the state itself becomes a symbol of injustice and revenge, its decline becomes inevitable.

He warned that what he termed fascism, oppression, and political victimisation would not endure, saying history bears witness that oppressive structures eventually collapse. “The people are watching, and there will be accountability,” he said.
