LAHORE:Five people have been arrested with illegal reels of string and kites from different areas during police actions against kite flyers and makers.

Karol Ghati police arrested a suspect and recovered illegal reels of kite string during an operation. According to police, accused Akbar Naveed was arrested from Karol Ghati Road and 80 reels of prepared illegal kite string were recovered from his possession. A case has been registered against him. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he used to prepare kite string and supply it to various areas of Lahore.

Baghbanpura police foiled an attempt to supply illegal kites and arrested two kite sellers. According to police, acting on a tip-off, officers stopped a suspicious vehicle during snap checking. The suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended after a chase.

Police recovered 1,010 kites and raw material worth millions of rupees from the vehicle. The arrested suspects were identified as Atiq and Habib. A case has been registered. Shera Kot police seized a container carrying illegal kite material and arrested two suspects. According to police, acting on the directions of DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, strict checking was underway at city checkpoints. During checking at Shera Kot, police recovered over 10,000 kites and 15 reels of chemical-coated string from a container disguised as a beverage shipment. The arrested suspects identified as Owais and Irshad were handed over to police for legal action. The container was reportedly coming from Karachi to Lahore.
