GUJRANWALA: A case was registered against former MPA Rana Sarfraz Ahmed Khan, his son Abdul Wahab and their associates following an alleged dispute over toll payment at the Head Balloki Toll Plaza on Monday.
According to police, the incident occurred when toll plaza staff asked for payment of the prescribed toll tax, triggering an argument that escalated into a violent clash. During the incident, toll plaza manager Amjad Ali and other employees were reportedly assaulted, while several toll booths were damaged.
In his complaint, the manager alleged that the accused also threw toll plaza equipment into the River Ravi.He further claimed that cash amounting to Rs300,000 was forcibly taken during the attack and that a toll employee, identified as Ehsan Ali, was abducted and taken away by the suspects. On the complaint of Amjad Ali, Sarai Mughal police registered a case.
COMMISSIONER DIRECTS STRICT FIRE SAFETY MEASURES FOR COMMERCIAL PLAZAS: Gujranwala Division Commissioner Syed Naveed Haider Sherazi has stated that no commercial plaza will be allowed to operate without completing mandatory fire safety arrangements.
He emphasised that all commercial plazas must have fire extinguishers, emergency exit routes, and fire alarm systems to protect human lives during emergencies.He expressed these views while chairing an important meeting on fire safety in commercial plazas across the division. Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed was also present. The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Coordination Muhammad Shafiq, ACG Muhammad Amir, ADCG Faisal Sultan, Director Development Muhammad Abdul Rauf, SDO Para Force Mohsin Dhillon, Director GDA, DE Industries, officers of concerned departments, fire brigade officials, and other stakeholders. All Deputy Commissioners of the division joined the meeting via video link.
The commissioner directed Deputy Commissioners to conduct inspections of all commercial plazas and ordered strict action against violators. He said these measures would significantly enhance public safety.
Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed appreciated the initiative and said it would raise awareness among plaza owners, who would be supported to ensure full compliance with safety regulations.
MISSING THREE-YEAR-OLD GIRL FOUND DEAD: A tragic incident was reported from Wazirabad where the dead body of a three-year-old girl, identified as Esha, was found in front of her home.
According to reports, the child had gone missing a day earlier. Police said the girl was allegedly murdered and her body was dumped outside her residence.Upon receiving information, police reached the scene and shifted the body to DHQ Hospital. A case has been registered and investigation was underway.
BODY FOUND: The dead body of a man was found in agricultural fields in the Ladhewala Warraich area.Villagers spotted the body and immediately informed the police.
Ladhewala Warraich police arrived at the scene and shifted the body to DHQ Hospital Gujranwala. The deceased was identified as Yahya, aged 35. Further investigation was in progress.
