ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Thursday submitted a report to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on measures to block the X-account of PTI founder.

According to the report, social media companies are registered in their own countries and do not consider themselves bound by the laws of other countries.

The PTA report presented in the High Court said that it wrote to X at different times to close the X account of founder of PTI, but these requests could not prove effective.

On August 21, 2022, for the first time, the PTA wrote a letter to X to close the account of the founder of PTI. After this, on April 18, 2024, a request was sent to X to close the account of the founder of PTI, citing the convictions in Toshakhana, Cipher and Iddat cases.

The report states that on November 27, 2025, X was written to block 47 tweets of the founder of PTI, however, despite writing to the PTA 3 times in a period of three and a half years, X rejected the requests overall. According to the report, out of the request to block 47 tweets on November 27, 2025, X blocked only one tweet.

The PTA report also states that the PTA asked social media companies to register with the authority in Pakistan, however, the social media companies neither got registered nor did appoint any representative in Pakistan.

The report said that the social media companies are registered in their own countries and do not consider themselves bound by the laws of other countries. The report further states that social media companies also look into complaints received from other countries according to their own laws. This report of the PTA regarding the request to close the X account of PTI founder Imran Khan has been submitted to the Islamabad High Court.
