MIRANSHAH: An important and historic bridge built over the Kurram River in Shewa Tehsil of North Waziristan was blown up with explosives, completely severing land connectivity for the area, officials said on Wednesday.

Police officials said that unidentified assailants planted explosive material beneath the bridge and detonated it, destroying a key communication link connecting Mir Ali, Miranshah, Thall, and other surrounding areas. As a result of the blast, millions of residents have been cut off from these regions.

Police officials said that half of the bridge was completely destroyed in the explosion. Following the incident, security forces and police launched an investigation, though no arrests have been made so far. The bridge was considered a vital and historic route for local residents and its destruction has caused serious difficulties for commuters and transport of essential goods.
