Recommendations shared: Tobacco Development Cess Projects to have local priorities

PESHAWAR: Recommendations for uplift initiatives to be launched under the Tobacco Development Cess (TDC) were shared on Wednesday to align them with local development priorities and ensure effective implementation.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, received a briefing on the initiatives proposed to be funded under the TDC. A consultative meeting for the purpose was organized by the Regional Development Section of the Planning and Development Department.

The meeting was attended by Member Provincial Assembly from Mardan, Abdul Salam Afridi, Secretary Planning and Development Syed Adil Shah, and other relevant officials.The minister was briefed on the proposed projects and development initiatives under the Tobacco Development Cess, including their key features and viable implementation mechanisms.

Syed Fakhar Jehan said that utilizing resources generated from tobacco for the sustainable development of concerned districts, improvement of basic facilities, and public welfare projects was among the top priorities of the provincial government.
