LAHORE:Wasa Lahore has become the country’s first municipal entity, which achieved ISO 50001 certification for its Energy Management System (EnMS).
The achievement was another feather in the cap of Wasa Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed while Director Electricity Wasa Hafiz Raheel led the whole process successfully.Hafiz Raheel said the certification covered the operation and maintenance of water supply tube-wells under Wasa Lahore. He said this milestone reflected Agency’s commitment to efficient energy use and compliance with internationally recognised standards practiced worldwide.
Meanwhile, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Wasa MD Lahore Ghufran Ahmed, in which a detailed review of the weekly progress under the Lahore Development Programme, revenue collection and complaint management system was taken.
All directors of Wasa Lahore attended the meeting. The officers concerned briefed the MD on the ongoing development projects in their respective areas.Addressing the meeting, Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed directed that all directors accelerate the pace of development projects and ensure timely completion of the projects at all costs.
He directed to immediately start revenue billing in the completed areas of the LDP and said that all towns should be instructed to bring the service areas of LDP into the revenue net. He categorically said that no negligence in revenue collection would be tolerated.
Instructions were also issued to use modern technology to make the revenue system transparent and effective. The meeting also decided that disciplinary action would be taken against officers and staff who showed poor performance in revenue collection, while orders were also given to disconnect the water and sewerage connections of all defaulters.
Managing Director, while emphasising the immediate redress of public grievances, directed all directors that no delay in resolving complaints would be acceptable.Furthermore, he directed to continue the desalination operation effectively as per the schedule and to provide special supervision to manhole covers in all areas. Clear orders were also issued for the immediate resolution of complaints related to manhole covers.
