Suspect held for staging over Rs1m robbery

LAHORE:A purportedroad robbery involving Rs1.122 million in the Ghaziabad area turned out to be staged after police arrested the main suspect and recovered the entire amount.

According to SP Cantt Akhtar Nawaz, the complainant’s salesman, identified as Fahad Arif, allegedly fabricated the robbery to embezzle company funds. The suspect was employed as a salesman at a plywood factory and had collected sales proceeds amounting to Rs1,122,000. Police said the accused made a false call to the 15 helpline, claiming that unidentified individuals had intercepted and robbed him of the cash. However, during the course of professional investigation and questioning, inconsistencies emerged in his account.

Theft suspect arrested

Railways Police arrested a suspect red-handed for allegedly stealing railway material from the Railway Carriage Shop in Mughalpura.According to a spokesperson for Railways Police, a policeteam during patrol found a railway employee identified as Ghulam Mustafa who attempted to flee upon seeing the police team. The officers conducted a search and recovered six kg copper wire wrapped around both of his calves using adhesive solution tape. Upon questioning, the suspect confessed to his crime.
