Emergency in public hospitals

LAHORE:The Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHC&MED) and Health and Population Department (HPD) declared high alert in public hospitals and directed the hospital authorities to provide continuous quality healthcare services to the patients during these extraordinary times.

In a directive addressed to all Vice Chancellors of public sector medical universities, principals/ EDS/ HOls of public sector medical colleges/ specialized medical institutes, and medical superintendents of all public sector teaching hospitals in Punjab, the Department directed to maintain high alert in hospitals in view of the prevailing current security situation to ensure prompt and effective response to any emergency.

In this regard, uninterrupted provision of essential healthcare services must be ensured, and the following arrangements shall be made accordingly: Proper contingency plans encompassing all the relevant details like duty rosters of emergencies, indoors, operation theaters and pharmacies must be issued and implemented by all the institutions; round the clock availability of medical, nursing, paramedical and support staff, including senior administrative and medical staff; availability and alertness of security staff to avoid any untoward incident.
