ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, marking another major milestone in the advancement of Pakistan’s aerospace and defence capabilities.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the successful test reflects the Pakistan Air Force’s sustained pursuit of operational readiness, technological superiority and national security objectives. Quoting Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, the ISPR said the achievement underscores PAF’s commitment to maintaining a credible conventional deterrent in a rapidly evolving regional security environment. The Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile is capable of engaging both land and sea-based enemy targets with high precision at a range of up to 600 kilometres. It carries a conventional warhead and is equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation and guidance system. Designed to fly at very low altitudes, the missile can effectively evade hostile air and missile defence systems, significantly enhancing PAF’s precision-strike capability and operational flexibility.
The successful flight test highlights the technical maturity, innovation and growing self-reliance of Pakistan’s defence industry. The launch was witnessed by senior officers of the Pakistan Armed Forces, along with eminent scientists and engineers who played a pivotal role in the development of the advanced weapon system.
The Air Chief warmly congratulated the scientists, engineers and the entire PAF team on the successful test, lauding their professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities. He reaffirmed that such achievements demonstrate the nation’s resolve to attain technological self-sufficiency while safeguarding its security interests. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also commended the PAF for the successful test of the indigenously developed weapon system. In their separate statements, both leaders congratulated the nation on the achievement.
President Zardari said the successful test strengthens national defence and reinforces Pakistan’s responsible defence policy aimed at main6taining regional stability.
PM Shehbaz Sharif extended his felicitations to the Pakistan Air Force, noting that the Taimoor Weapon System will further enhance the country’s defence capabilities and contribute to national security.
Separately, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Saturday announced the successful flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, describing it as a landmark achievement in Pakistan’s drive towards military self-reliance and enhanced aerial warfare capability.
Terming the development a significant boost to the country’s strategic defence posture, the minister said the successful test reflects Pakistan’s growing capacity to develop advanced, homegrown defence technologies. He noted that the PAF continues to demonstrate its readiness to meet the evolving challenges of modern warfare with precision and professionalism.
Minister Naqvi lauded the leadership of Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal General Asim Munir and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, crediting their strategic vision for enabling major advances in defence technology. He also paid tribute to the scientists and engineers involved in the project, acknowledging their expertise and dedication as a cornerstone of national defence.
