QUETTA: The first transshipment cargo vessel of May 2026 has arrived at Gwadar Port. The shipment consists of over 13,000 packages containing Chinese-manufactured industrial equipment and pipes.
According to details, the vessel is carrying 16,077 metric tons of transshipment cargo. The ship was originally bound for Kuwait but was diverted to Gwadar Port due to the prevailing maritime situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The vessel, named MV Shuo Long, has docked at Gwadar Port, marking the first major ship arrival at the port in May 2026. A media coordinator stated that the cargo includes large quantities of industrial machinery and piping systems.
Chairman Gwadar Port, Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, said that during April 2026, four transshipment vessels had already arrived at Gwadar Port, reflecting the growing importance of the port as an alternative trade route amid regional maritime uncertainties.
