HANGU: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) leader and former senator Hafiz Hamdullah on Thursday demanded fresh and free polls to pull the country out of crises.
“The February 8 general elections were “not elections but a sale.” We want elections free from establishment interference to ensure political stability in the country,” he said at a Dastar-e-Fazilat ceremony at Jamia Uloom-e-Islamia Zargari during his visit to Hangu.
The JUIF leader said Pakistan is an Islamic state and the country’s political and military leadership fully acknowledges this fact.He added that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had envisioned Pakistan as an Islamic and welfare state.
Hafiz Hamdullah alleged that despite these constitutional guarantees, legislation was being introduced in parliament that contradicted Islamic teachings and the Constitution. He referred to laws related to banning marriage under the age of 18, certain domestic violence laws, and the lack of implementation of legislation concerning religious seminaries and the interest-based economic system, terming them against the Quran and Sunnah.
