PESHAWAR: A 15-year-old madrassa student was allegedly gang-raped in the Badaber area on the outskirts of the provincial capital, with police registering the first information report (FIR) nearly 35 days after the incident, officials said on Wednesday.
According to the FIR lodged by the victim’s father at the Badaber Police Station, the main suspect intercepted the girl while she was on her way to the madrassa and lured her to his house under the pretext of taking clothes. Once inside the premises, the main suspect and his two accomplices, who were already present there, allegedly gang-raped the minor girl.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Farhan Khan told Geo News that the victim was under 18 years of age. “The FIR was registered after a delay of 35 days because the matter was initially suppressed as an issue of honour,” the SSP said.
“A jirga attempted to resolve the matter by deciding that the girl should be married to one of the three accused boys,” he said.Farhan Khan said that the police had now registered the case. “The FIR has been registered, and the suspects have been identified,” he said. “They are on the run, but we will arrest them soon,” he said.
