PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Shafiullah Jan has said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have given Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) a clear mandate.

“This trust, built on PTI’s pro-people policies and performance during its previous tenure, has grown over time and will continue to strengthen,” he said in a statement in response to remarks made by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari.

Shafi Jan said that Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi was focusing on governance reforms, public welfare, and securing the province’s constitutional and legal rights from the federal government, rather than undertaking ceremonial tours. At the recent National Finance Commission (NFC) meeting, he said, the chief minister effectively presented KP’s case and demanded the release of long-overdue federal funds owed to the province.

He said that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was following the vision and principled politics of PTI’s founding chairman Imran Khan. Among other initiatives, he said, special funds have been allocated for the welfare of minority communities, and 170 public services were being transitioned to digital payments to promote e-governance.

On law and order, Shafi Jan said the provincial government was pursuing a comprehensive and sustainable strategy based on consultation with all stakeholders to ensure peace, development, and prosperity. A historic jirga was held in the provincial assembly, bringing together political and religious leaders from various schools of thought, resulting in a fifteen-point consensus declaration for peace in the province.

Furthermore, the provincial cabinet has approved billions of rupees in funds to enhance the capacity of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Branch, including the provision of weapons, armored vehicles, and other necessary measures.

He concluded by stating that PTI’s struggle for the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law will continue. “Through the power of the people, truth will prevail, and fabricated cases will collapse. Those in government behind closed doors on Form 47 have no moral or democratic authority to make decisions,” he added.
