Islamabad: Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan visited the Tajikistan-Pakistan Cultural Festival at Lok Virsa here and thanked the government of Tajikistan for sending a cultural delegation to take part in the celebrations.

In a conversation with Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Sharifzoda Yusuf, the minister said Pakistan was keen to strengthen cultural cooperation with all Central Asian Republics (CARs). He praised the 75-member Tajik cultural troupe currently touring Pakistan for their captivating performance at Lok Virsa, applauding the artists for their skill and creativity.

The minister said Pakistan had warmly received the Tajik performers.

“Cultural exchanges such as these play a vital role in deepening friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries,” he said.

The minister noted that the region shared deep-rooted cultural and civilisational links, which provided a solid foundation for closer cooperation among Central Asian states.

He once again expressed his appreciation to the Tajik government for sending in the delegation and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to expand cultural ties across Central Asia. On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Sharifzoda discussed a range of issues with the minister and informed him that the Tajik troupe would also stage performances in Lahore as part of their visit.
