Rawalpindi: Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, has announced that cricket trials will be held tomorrow (May 2) as part of ongoing efforts to promote sports in Rawalpindi under the vision of the Punjab government.
He stated that young players will be given a golden opportunity to showcase their talent purely on merit, says a press release. Speaking as a chief guest at the CM Punjab Inter-District Kabaddi Championship 2026, held at ARL Hockey Ground, Morgah, on Thursday, Barrister Danyal said the Punjab government is prioritising the promotion of sports.
Following the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, world-class sports facilities are being provided to youth to steer them toward positive activities.
Barrister Danyal further revealed that following the successful conclusion of the Inter-District Kabaddi Championship, the cricket trials will result in the merit-based selection of 10 players from the Under-23 category, 2 from Under-19, and 4 from the Open (no age limit) category.
The selected team will compete at the Punjab level. With the support of the Sports Board, players will be provided modern facilities, training, and guidance to help them bring recognition to the country at national and international levels in the future.
