LAHORE:Imran Ahmed Sheikh, News Editor, daily The News, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday due to internal complications after several months of his whipple surgery conducted in April 2025. He was 56.
His nimaz-e-janaza was attended by a large number of his colleagues, media persons and people from various walks of life. He was laid to rest outside the shrine of Hazrat Tahir Bandagi (RA).
Imran Sheikh was son of the late Nawazish Ali, who retired from the health department. Imran Sheikh started his journalistic career in early 1990s from Daily The Frontier Post as sub-editor.
Later, he joined Dawn and worked there for a decade. He briefly worked for Express TV before joining The News as news editor in 2007. He is survived by his widow and three brothers - Irfan Ahmed, Adnan Ahmed and Rizwan Ahmed.
