LAHORE : A suspect was killed during an alleged encounter in Township area of the provincial capital.
Reportedly, police officials at a checkpoint signalled two motorcycle-borne suspects to stop. Instead, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police party.
Police said an exchange of fire ensued between the suspects and law enforcement personnel. During the shootout, one suspect identified as Suneel was killed, allegedly as a result of firing by his accomplices, while the other suspect managed to escape.
The body was shifted to the morgue for post-mortem examination.
Police added that raids are being conducted at multiple locations to arrest the fleeing suspect, while further investigation into the incident is underway.
