HAFIZABAD: The police have registered two separate cases against six unidentified accomplices for allegedly rescuing Adnan, alias Dani -a hired killer and the kingpin of the capture mafia - from police custody, and

later causing his death in an alleged police encounter.

According to FIRs filed by the CCD police, Adnan Dani, who had previously escaped from police custody and was posing as a public servant at the Sadr police station, was being arrested by the CCD police when six armed associates ambushed the police on the way, freed him and fled.

Later, near Kot Nawan, the armed suspects opened fire again, prompting the police to return fire.

During the exchange, Adnan Dani was accidentally killed by gunfire from his own associates, who then escaped.

Adnan Dani, who was involved in dozens of serious criminal cases, was handed over to his

heirs after the postmortem and was buried following funeral prayers at a local cemetery on Vanike Road.
