PESHAWAR: Police killed three members of a criminal gang during pre-dawn operations in Shangla and Peshawar on Thursday.
“A symbol of terror in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda and the surrounding areas, the Lal Sher alias Lalay Group, has been eliminated. Three leaders of the gang, Lal Sher, Jan Sher and Ramzan Sher, have been killed,” an official of the Capital City Police told the media.
The operations were carried out by special teams formed on the directives of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mian Saeed Ahmad.“Notorious proclaimed offenders Lal Sher and Jan Sher , wanted for serious crimes such as the target killing of police personnel, extortion, murder, attempted murder, attacks on police and land grabbing, were killed during a police encounter in Shangla,” the CCPO said.
He added that another member of the gang, Ramzan Sher, was killed in a separate encounter in Shahpur, while two accomplices managed to escape.“The gangsters were wanted in a total of 34 cases registered at Shahpur, Chamkani, East Cantt, CTD District Nowshera, Akora Khattak Police Station, Sardheri Police Station in Charsadda district, and City Police Station Charsadda,” an official said.A reward was announced for the police team that successfully eliminated the gang.
